Tonight: Patton Oswalt, Ted Leo, and Ben Gibbard on WFMU!

Tonight from 8-11 PM, The Best Show on WFMU (91.1 FM) with Tom Scharpling will be guesting comedian Patton Oswalt and musicians Ted Leo and Ben Gibbard, according to the WFMU site.

The goal of tonight's broadcast is to raise money via pledges for WFMU, now in its 50th year of production. The station hopes to accomplish several goals with the money raised, such as installing a booster antenna to increase their coverage and launching a website to "act as an unrestricted online goldmine of music, and also as a licensing collective to combat recent efforts by the record industry to tax webcasters (and eventually broadcasters) dry." WFMU is looking to raise one million dollars to fund these projects.

Supporting WFMU is absolutely imperative for anyone who cares about the future of the mass media, listens to the station or lives in New Jersey. In addition to being an independent station, WFMU is a New Jersey staple and broadcasts some of the best new alternative and indie acts around.

Combat corporate takeovers and the 1996 Telecommunications Act! You can make a pledge for WFMU here.
